Moses Segawa is a specialist employment and employee benefits practitioner. He advises on both non-contentious and contentious matters and acts for a range of sector-leading organisations in the private sector as well as governmental agencies.
He has been at the forefront of guiding employers on their obligations under the 2006 labour laws and works with general and in-house counsel and employment advisers in handling employment issues, including specialised matters such as transfers of undertaking, corporate restructurings and labour law compliance audits.
Moses acted as employment advisor to dfcu Bank for its acquisition of the employment portfolio of Crane Bank (as part of the overall purchase of the assets and liabilities of Crane Bank) and the Uganda National Roads Authority on the overhaul of its human resource structure and employee complement.
Moses’ market-leading pension practice handles the full spectrum of pension matters. He advises on benefit set-up, drafting of trust deeds and rules, registration of schemes, commercial matters and the restructuring, migration and liquidation of pension funds. He is currently advising a publicly-traded entity on the migration of its provident fund scheme from an in-house scheme to an umbrella fund.
He is a member of the Uganda Law Society and the East African Law Society.
