Joseph Luswata’s practice focuses on commercial dispute resolution, banking and finance and taxation.
Joseph acts for three leading financial institutions in Uganda for contentious and non-contentious banking and finance mandates, including high-level matters dealing with financial institutions’ regulation. Joseph is also a commercial disputes practitioner of considerable expertise and acts for commercial banks, two of Uganda’s leading downstream petroleum companies and several local and multinational entities.
In tax, Joseph acts in both advisory and disputes mandates. He is currently representing TOTAL E&P, Tullow Operations and CNOOC Uganda in a complex, multi-million dollar tax dispute with the Uganda Revenue Authority.
Joseph is a member of the Uganda Law Society, the East African Law Society, the Commonwealth Lawyers Association, the International Bar Association and the Oxford and Cambridge Society of Uganda.
