Barnabas Tumusingize is a leading financial services sector practitioner. He heads the team that advises twelve commercial banks in Uganda, and is additionally retained as legal counsel by a global development financial institution focused on private sector financing and the region’s two leading development banks.
Barnabas also possesses considerable experience and expertise in disputes work. His disputes practice covers banking and financial law, construction, commercial contracts, insurance fraud and regulatory affairs. In notable mandates, Barnabas has obtained favourable results for Standard Chartered Bank Uganda and Sinohydro Corporation before the East African Court of Justice and for the National Social Security Fund before the Supreme Court of Uganda in significant multi-million dollar disputes.
He is a member of the Uganda Law Society, the East African Law Society, the Commonwealth Lawyers Association and the International Bar Association, where he previously served as the Vice-Chair of the Africa Region.
